Description

The Value of Community Re-Integration Support in Pediatric Patients: A Trauma-Informed Lens

March 4, 2026 | 5:00 p.m. EST

Facilitator:

 Jacqueline Cola, MS, CCLS

This workshop will highlight the importance of supporting children’s transition out of the hospital setting and into the community, with a multitude of factors to consider. In addition to hospitalization, this is adaptable to various traumatic or life-altering events children may face, such as the loss of a loved one, community tragedies, and those seeking asylum. Children who have these lived experiences face a sense of unpredictability after a hospitalization or other traumatic life event, seeking emotional safety and “a new normal”. We will discuss the value of anticipating stressors that children may face as they re-unite with their peers, how to prepare for navigating questions those in the community may ask them, and building resilience after having an altered-sense of self.
