  “ Psychosis in the Age of Cannabis: Approaches for Providers and Families”

 Cannabis is no longer what it used to be —warranting new action. As potency increases and access expands, providers and families are navigating a growing wave of cannabis-related psychosis. This session focuses primarily on how providers and families can respond in timely and skillful manners to support early intervention, relapse prevention, and improved outcomes. Participants will explore: 1. Understand the current research on cannabis and psychosis risk. 2. Distinguish cannabis-induced psychosis from other psychotic disorders and apply practical, trauma-informed screening and communication strategies across care settings. 3. Use evidence-based tools such as motivational interviewing and family psychoeducation to reduce harm, promote early intervention, and access to support for families and those experiencing psychosis. 4. Explore a tool-kit of resources to enact when caring for those impacted by psychosis.
