Most children in the United States who enter kindergarten are delayed in their social-emotional, cognitive, and/or health development. These gaps have been present for decades, yet early childhood systems have failed to close them. To foster optimal outcomes for young children, it is necessary to systematically elicit parents’ and caregivers’ goals and priorities and establish a partnership with them in creating pathways toward achievement of the goals for their children. Goal Concordant Care is a strength-based and systematic approach to eliciting parents’ goals for their children’s well-being and the utilization of those goals to inform the process of developmental & health promotion, early identification of concern or needs with referral and linkage to the necessary resources. This concept offers an opportunity to advance parents and caregivers as partners in decision-making and to ensure resources provided are in concordance with the goals, aspirations, and values of the family. This workshop will highlight the application of systematic parent/caregiver goal-setting and goal-monitoring in the pediatric well-visit in order to advance parent-identified priorities for family well-being and child health and development.

This will be a one-hour webinar held virtually via Zoom, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
